Rick Hurst was elected to the City Commission for a two-year term beginning November 2017 through November 2019. He serves as the Commission Liaison for the AMI Elementary School and The Center of Anna Maria Island.
Commissioner Hurst received a BSE from the University of Michigan. In the past, he had success as both a software developer and as an entrepreneur in the automotive industry.
Commissioner Hurst has been a youth sports coach since 1999. After moving to Holmes Beach, he has been a volunteer coach at The Center, and founded the Anna Maria Island soccer team for 8-11 year old boys that live in the community.
Commissioner Hurst and his wife Laura have three children - two boys and one girl. His goal as Commissioner is to work hard to keep Holmes Beach a safe and peaceful paradise, bring a new perspective to the Commission, do things the right way, and work to bring back a sense of community that has been forgotten.
