February 1961 in Newark, New Jersey

MARITAL STATUS:

Married to Thea Tokajer since December 1981.Thea has been in the medical profession since 1975 and is presently employed by Tidewell Hospice Palliative Care.We reside in Ellenton, Florida.

CHILDREN:

We have two daughters

Christina was in born July 1982 and resides in Idaho.

Valerie was in born April 1987 and resides in Florida.

Deputy Chief2005 - 2011

Manage the supervisors of Detectives, Crime Scene Investigations, Street Crimes, Gang Unit, Narcotics Unit, Records, Communications, Information Technology, Property Evidence, Parking Unit, Professional Standards, Hiring, Training and Accreditation Units. Also Commander of Emergency Operations Center with regard to natural and manmade disasters, legal issues and discipline coordinator, administrative negotiator for union (PBA) negotiations, assist in administering and preparing department budget, attend budget hearings, and prepare federal grant applications. In preparation for State and National Accreditation, oversaw complete rewriting of Department’s General Orders.

Major of Patrol Support2003 - 2005

Manage the supervisors of Detectives, Crime Scene Investigations, Street Crimes, Narcotics Unit, Records, Communications, Information Technology, Property Evidence, Parking Unit, Professional Standards, Hiring, Training and Accreditation Units. Major Accreditation Manager/Grants Coordinator2001 - 2003

Initiated accreditation process and administered grants. Agency received State accreditation status on June 25, 2003, and National status on July 29, 2006.


Major of Enforcement1998-2001

Managed supervisors of Patrol, Detectives, Special Investigations, Records, Communications, Property Evidence, Parking, Hiring, and Accreditation Units. Prepared and administered department budget, attended budget hearings in place of Police Chief. Prepared and administered federal grants applications.

Captain

While a Captain, held two administrative positions: 1996 – 1998

Captain of Enforcement Direct command over Patrol, Detective, Special Investigations, Property Evidence, Parking, Communications, and Training Coordinator Divisions. Served as agency’s Public Information Officer.


Administrative Captain Oversaw purchasing, prepared and administered budget, instrumental in preparation and administering federal grant applications, oversaw Maintenance supervisor, vehicle and building maintenance and administered special event applications within the city.


Training Lieutenant, Coordinator 1995 - 1996

Implemented and scheduled all in-service and mandatory retraining courses at Bradenton Police Department. Brought new, innovative training to agency. Kept and maintained all training records. Responsible for supervision of Field Training Officers Program. Also assigned task of Narcotics Eradication Team Commander.

Sergeant

While a Sergeant, held three positions: 1992 - 1995

Training Coordinator Implemented and scheduled all in-service and mandatory retraining courses at Bradenton Police Department. Kept and maintained all training records. Responsible for supervision of Field Training Officers Program. Rewrote training manual which remains in effect to date, with minor changes.


Sergeant of the Crime Reduction Team Responsible for street level narcotics and community policing unit tasks.

Sergeant of Patrol Division Responsible for patrol tasks.

Corporal, Field Training Officer, Detective, and Patrol Officer1985 – 1991

Held several positions during this time in the Patrol Division.During the time in the Detective Division, worked Robbery/Homicide and assigned as backup I.D. Technician, as needed.
