The Mayor is elected for a two-year term and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the City.  The Mayor has substantial influence in the policy-making process and has substantial control over the administration of the City.  The Mayor holds important budgetary and appointing powers, along with the power to veto legislative actions of the Commission.

 

Rich Bohnenberger has served as Mayor for the City of Holmes Beach since 2006.  Mayor Bohnenberger was first elected to the City Commission in 1993 and served through 1994.  He was elected as Mayor from 1994 to 1996 and again as City Commissioner from 1999 to 2006.  Mayor Bohnenberger's term will continue through November 2010.

 

Mayor Bohnenberger's education includes Philadelphia Community College and Manatee Community College.   He obtained Level VI  Florida Certified Public Manager through the University of Southern Florida.   He is a retired Fire Officer from the City of Philadelphia and a retired general contractor.  He is currently employed as a Licensed Real Estate Broker.

 

Political and community involvement includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Florida League of Cities and also serves as President of the Manasota League of Cities.  He is a member of the Manatee County Joint Planning Committee, MPO Board Member, Past President Kiwanis of Anna Maria Island, and Past President of the Anna Maria Chamber of Commerce.

 

Mayor Bohnenberger is married.  He and his wife have four children and ten grandchildren.
